Writers Lab Presents…two new works by emerging theatre-makers who have developed their craft through our Writers Lab group. These are bold, distinct new pieces about grief and trust, told through dark comedy and inventive theatrical storytelling, proudly presented by TFT!
Writers Lab is the Tobacco Factory Theatres’ adult Get Involved group
focussed on writing for performance. The programme supports new and developing writers through weekly sessions focused on voice, confidence and craft. Since it began in 2023 over 100 writers have been involved. Writers Lab Presents… marks the first time any of their work has been presented in a dedicated showcase of this scale. Introducing our second show of the day…
A Very Difficult Person by Rhys Williamson
Are you afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? You should be.
When the Big Bad Wolf knocks at his door, Rhys lets him in, sits him at the dining room table, and is shocked when the wolf tries to gobble him up. ‘A Very Difficult Person’ is as absurd as it is frightening: a story of trust, bad judgement, and things going wrong.
Storyteller Rhys Williamson shares his darkly comic true story of a bizarre encounter with a rogue trader, reimagined as a modern fairytale.
