Tobacco Factory Theatres has a proud history of creating great theatre. In the last 11 years we have produced or co-produced 28 in-house productions with 159,910 audience members attending 869 performances.
We have spent time connecting with audiences, participants and community groups, strengthening our wonderful programme of received and participatory work. We want this wonderful space to be a safe and inspiring place to share stories and be creative. We work hard to remove barriers and build confidence. In 2024, we made our work more accessible than ever with 3,510 financial difficulty tickets issued for those who would not be able to attend at standard or concessionary prices.
Now is the time to build on this bedrock, so that we can be a place of welcome and wonder; a place of connection which is diverse, contemporary and classical in equal measure. A place for everyone to belong.
In order to have more control over the artistic content of our programme, to feed the artistic ecology of the city and to respond to the changing needs of our audience; we must champion our own creativity.
To create longevity for the theatre, with the ambition to gain an increase in national profile and partnerships, we need to lean into our entrepreneurial history. We want to enhance the lives of others and we are aware that this work requires a portfolio of investment.
With this in mind, we are introducing a new TFT Production Fund to support our goal of making 7 in-house productions that will see us up to our 25th birthday in 2027!
In 2024/25 we produced the first three, namely The Marriage Of Figaro, Hansel and Gretel and most recently The Winter’s Tale.
We are asking for supporters to pledge a commitment from £3,000 per annum to this fund.
