Hot on the heels of our exceptionally well-received 101 Dalmatians last year, The Light Princess is Tobacco Factory Theatres’s latest creation for Christmas, inspired by George MacDonald’s beautiful original fairy tale.
In a kingdom far away, lives an extraordinary princess; a princess strikingly different to any you’ll have ever heard of. Strikingly different, in fact, to anyone who has ever lived. Because, you see, she has no gravity.
Now you might be thinking, what fun – to fly and float and bound around weightless in the air! But of course, it’s not as simple as that. Her windows are forever closed, she can’t run free and forever light-hearted; she can never take anything or anyone seriously. Especially not the prince who falls in love with her…
We can’t wait to bring this startling, bewitching fairy tale to life using a beautiful immersive set design, theatrical magic, original music and a lot of love. George MacDonald’s story will be adapted for the stage by Thomas Eccleshare (Dancing Brick and Helen) and Director John Nicholson (Peepolykus and Santa’s Little Trolls), with music from the divine Verity Standen (Mmm Hmmm) and design by Phil Eddolls (Dracula).
Join us this Christmas at Tobacco Factory Theatres, as we tell the incredible story of the Princess who just can’t keep her feet on the ground.
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway is proud to support Tobacco Factory Theatres as it stages this production.
