    About

Our popular summer school is back!

This summer we challenge you to create a brand new piece of theatre to be performed at Tobacco Factory Theatres!

Working with highly experienced theatre practitioners young people will develop their drama skills through games, imaginative play, role play and storytelling. Each day, young people will be encouraged to expand their self-confidence, communication ability and team work skills. The days will be fun and creative and will involve a range of physical and craft activities.

The sessions are led by skilled theatre makers with strong backgrounds in creating work with and for young people.

    WHAT TO EXPECT

Each day we will explore a well-known storybook, using the themes of the story to inspire role play, character creation and storytelling skills. Over the course of the week, the summer school will include:

    • Fun and energising games
    • Team-work exercises
    • Acting and ensemble movement
    • Trust and team building exercises
    • Dressing up!
    • Craft – puppet and mask creation

As it’s summer, we will also take a trip to the local park to do some outdoor games and get some fresh air!

    Introducing Hannah-Rose Wiltshire, Workshop Facilitator

Hannah-Rose has been working as a drama facilitator for 10 years, teaching students from 18 months to 21 years. She’s showcased her unique brand of performance and education in schools, communities and companies across the UK, including Stagecoach, Bristol Academy of Drama, and All-In Productions.

Hannah-Rose also works as a freelance LAMDA teacher, and runs her own theatre company, Drama with Hannah-Rose.

“As a facilitator, the main focus of my classes is to build confidence and imagination in children,” she explains. “I use storytelling and roleplay to nurture creativity and independence. At this age, drama isn’t just about performing in front of an audience – it’s a dress rehearsal for the journey ahead of them”.
