Tobacco Factory Theatres is thrilled to announce that theatre director and writer Robin Belfield has joined Heidi Vaughan’s creative team for the highly anticipated production of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, performing at the Bristol venue from 25 February to 29 March 2025, with previews from 20 February 2025.
With a career encompassing directing, writing, and dramaturgy, Belfield has made significant contributions to theatre in the UK and internationally. His work spans collaborations with some of the industry’s most prestigious organisations, including:
- Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC): Romeo and Juliet (37Plays project), Twelfth Night, The Merchant of Venice, Sapho and Phao
- Shakespeare’s Globe: Princess Essex
- Yellowtale Theatre (The Bahamas): Hibiscus Hotel, Dat Bahamian Ting
- The Watermill Theatre: Around the World in Eighty Days, Alice in Wonderland
- Richard Burton Company, RWCMD: Red Velvet, Blue/Orange, Vincent in Brixton

- Nuffield Theatre, Southampton: Othello, Oleanna, The Entertainer
Belfield is also the author of the critically acclaimed Telling the Truth: How to Make Verbatim Theatre and an Associate Director for The Unicorn Theatre.

An imaginative take on a Shakespearean classic
Tobacco Factory Theatres’ production of The Winter’s Tale, is set to bring a fresh take on this Shakespearean classic, with Belfield’s unique vision playing a pivotal role in shaping the production.
