Today, we open the rehearsal room doors for Rapunzel: A Hairytale, our magical festive production at Tobacco Factory Theatres. It’s the first day — the one where the room is full of fresh coffee, new scripts, and that brilliant buzz of possibility.
This year, we’re taking audiences on a journey to a quiet tower deep in the forest, where a young girl dreams of the world beyond her window. It’s a story about growing up, letting go and finding the courage to step into the unknown — all wrapped up in music, mischief and a touch of magic.
We have an extraordinary company of actor-musicians bringing this story to life, each of them not only performing unforgettable characters but also playing the original live music that will thread through every moment of the show. Today, we begin shaping that world together: exploring the story, finding its heartbeat and building the warmth, humour and wonder that will fill the theatre this winter.
For me, the first day of rehearsals is always a little bit special. It’s where the ideas stop living just on the page and start breathing in the room. And what a room to breathe in — Tobacco Factory Theatres has a unique festive energy, and I can already feel that this production will be something truly special.
We can’t wait to welcome you into Rapunzel’s world when the show opens on 27 November 2025 – go on, let your hair down!
