The team behind Acting Lab – our sell out weekly acting classes for adults, are hitting the stage this summer, offering the chance to create, rehearse and perform a play in a week.
Working intensively and collaboratively with a Theatre Director you will go on a journey of creativity and discovery and perform your work to family and friends at the end of the week.
Play in a Week is open to all adults, you do not have to be a member of Acting Lab to take part.
Please note this course is intended for non professional theatre makers.
Every time you get into a creative room with a new group of people you have the chance to make something totally unique. That’s what we want to do!
Starting with a simple theme, we invite the company to bring in relevant images, stories, anecdotes, dreams and metaphors etc, to make a melting pot of material for inspiration and exploration; from the sublime to the ridiculous!
Highly experienced (and slightly mad) theatre makers John and Sophie will work with you to theatrically explore group content, bend form and ultimately craft an abundance of material into story, meaning and magic!
You will learn, unearth and use skills in improvisation, movement, ensemble and composition.
Come and be an integral part of a new ensemble, making accessible and high quality work for a new audience – in a week!

Classes take place at Tobacco Factory Theatres from 10am – 5pm every day.

The true cost of running the summer school is £60 per person per day, we have a subsidised option at £40 per person intended for those from low income households, we also have bursary places available for people facing financial difficulty.
