Milk Poetry returns with another eclectic line-up of top spoken word artists from across the UK and beyond.

Introducing…

Jakabol ft. Malaika Kegode

Inspired by the energy of bands like Mahavishnu Orchestra and King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Jakabol are an experimental 4 piece consisting of harp, violin, drums and guitar. Fusing world folk influences with progressive textures and explosive riffs.

Malaika Kegode’s work tells us how we can find beauty and hope through the darkness. Her overall themes of family, mental health, addiction and love always have an undercurrent of optimism and strength.

Through their collaboration, Malaika and Jakabol fuse spoken word and music to give a performance that finds the epic in the ordinary and magic in the everyday.

Stefan Mohamed

Stefan is a Bristol-based spoken word performer and author. His poetry collection PANIC! is published by Burning Eye Books and his novels Falling Leaves and the Bitter Sixteen Trilogy are published by Salt Publishing.

Pascal Vine

Pascal Vine is a performance poet from the Somerset Levels who enjoys describing the world around them in the touchiest-feeliest ways possible. They have been published by Bad Betty, Three Drops, Verve and a vast array of indie publications and projects. They are one-third of the team behind Meta Slam in Bristol. Pascal looks forward to making you laugh when you’re not sure it’s entirely appropriate.

1990’s Chris

1990s Chris is a queer, working class poet from Hereford, based in Bristol. Writing primarily for film and audio, Chris has recently become a BBC New creative. He is currently a writer at Neoteric Dance Company and has previously collaborated with a Channel 4 on Random Acts. His work hopes to start conversations around queer identity, masculinity and class.
