The Factory Singers present….
‘Factory Tapes: The Power of Love’
Performed by our resident community choir the Factory Singers, ‘Factory Tapes’ is an annual presentation of stories woven together with songs that have been chosen by the choir members themselves.
This year the performance centres around the theme of the ‘power of love.’ You can expect songs from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Joan Armatrading and Elbow, and we will be exploring the many facets of love in a life-affirming show!
Conductor David Hewson says: ‘In a time when things are feeling ever fractured, it felt like a worthwhile exercise to curate an evening devoted to the joyful celebration of love in all its different forms and its power to bring people together. This is, after all, at the heart of what a community choir is all about: coming together in an act of joyful singing – an act of shared love of music and friendship!’
“Factory Tapes is a living breathing “Desert Island Discs” – an unpacking of those memories that belong to us and us alone. ‘That song’ that mirrors ‘that story’, the one we turned up loud, belted out in the pub or sobbed to on our beds. Our voices sang loud, tripping through our loves, hopes and truths – a musical homage to messy and joyous lives.” – Annabel Reddick, Choir Member on Factory Tapes, 2023
