    MOVING FORWARD

    A workshop with Heather Williams

Has the pandemic left you feeling anxious, overwhelmed and out of control? You are not alone.

This workshop will give artists an introduction to modern therapeutic, clinically proven techniques and strategies to support individual mental health, all based on the latest neuroscientific research.

The two hour, one to one, confidential workshop is with actor and director Heather Williams, who is also a Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist working as Heather Straun.

    It will include:

    • An insight into how the mind works
    • Help for imagining a preferred image for the future and empower you to achieve it
    • A guided relaxation to help your mind relax and process the positive work you do in the session.
    • Guidance towards being back in control and regaining your motivation, confidence and passion for your work.

Heather Williams has over forty years experience working in theatre as an actor, director, facilitator, trainer, consultant and mentor. In addition she is an accredited Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist. (www.heatherstraun.co.uk)

She worked for 13 years at Bristol Old Vic not only as a performer, director and senior manager, but was also responsible for running the Youth Theatre, outreach, lifelong learning and participation work.

From 2004 to 2018 she was Artistic Director of Myrtle Theatre a company she co-founded, which focused on social concerns and the factors involved in health and wellbeing, working in particular with creatives and communities whose voices are often unheard.

She last performed at Tobacco Factory Theatres in 2019, as Bottom In A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Dabby in Our Country’s Good.

    OUR NEW MASTERCLASSES PROGRAMME

Heather’s masterclass is part of an expanding programme at Tobacco Factory Theatres.

Our theatre owes so much to freelance and independent artists, who have created almost everything we’ve presented over the last 20 years. These exceptionally talented and professional colleagues have been confronted with huge challenges through Covid-19, whilst on the whole receiving far less support than venues.

Last year we partnered with The Cube Microplex to distribute hardship grants to local artists with acute financial difficulties, funded by The Gane Trust.

This year, whilst we continue to work on our long-term survival, we aim to support local artists in new and varied ways.

The first initiative is our Masterclasses Programme, designed for South West-based professional artists, and led by a range of inspiring practitioners.
