    Happy International Women’s Day!

If you aren’t already aware the theme for this year’s campaign is #eachforequal because an equal world is an enabled world – an especially important notion in the Arts in terms of representation and celebration.

Lucie Morgado, our Marketing Intern from the University of Bristol, has interviewed three inspiring artists who’ve worked in collaboration with our theatre; exploring how significant this year’s campaign theme #eachforequal is to them.

They discuss everything from queer & non-binary representation, to the challenges of being a single working parent in theatre and the importance of female voices having the space to create independent empowering work.

“Meeting the hygiene needs of all adolescent girls is a fundamental issue of human rights, dignity, and public health.”

-Sanjay Wijesekera, former UNICEF Chief of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

We believe that collectively we can make change happen! We’ve already taken action towards making Bristol a more gender equal city, in supporting #periodfriendlybristol and by hosting our own box.

Join us in normalising menstruation and making menstrual products, sanitation and hygiene easily accessible. You can check out this tweet for more info about our participation and how you too can get involved in the movement.

As stated on the International Women’s Day Website…..

“We are all parts of a whole. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviours and mindsets can have an impact on our larger society.”

Therefore let our celebrations and efforts towards reaching equality not end today, but be reflected and furthered every day of the year!
