    Join our Freelance Technician network

    Tobacco Factory Theatres is looking to build our database of Freelance Multi-Skilled Technicians to support productions and events across our busy and varied programme from September 2026 onwards. 

    This is an opportunity to express your interest in working with us on a freelance basis. We are not recruiting for a specific contract or vacancy, but are looking to connect with skilled technicians who would like to be considered for future opportunities as they arise. 


    Freelance engagements will vary in length, responsibility and scale depending on the needs of each production or event.

    Work may include:

    • Get-ins and get-outs
    • Technical rehearsals
    • Performance operation and programming
    • Building and technical maintenance calls
    • Seating changeovers
    • One-off events and hires

Being included in our freelance technician database does not guarantee work, but it enables us to broaden and diversify the pool of technicians we engage throughout the year.


    Role information

    Job title: Freelance Duty Technician

    Responsible to: Senior Technician

    Contract: Freelance, flexible engagements

    Working hours: Call times will vary depending on the needs of each production or event. Typical shifts may range from 10:00-22:00, with some later calls of 17:00-00:00.

    This role requires flexibility and will include evening, weekend and bank holiday working.

    Rate of pay: £15.00 per hour, payable on receipt of invoice.
