EIGHT 1

EIGHT – The One Wo(man) Drag King Musical Parody

    About

Henry VIII has returned to the land of the living to discover he is exclusively remembered as that bloke with six wives. He’s even heard there’s a musical being performed in London, on ships and in York (the new one) in which six women spend an hour and a half, eight times a week, slagging him off!

So there was only one thing for it. Henry is clearing his name in a musical drag extravaganza. If you’re lucky, he may even give you some advice on love and romance.

Get ready for singing, dancing and maybe even some podcasting. Featuring parodies of songs by Meatloaf, Celine Dion and Ed Sheeran, this bonkers show explores the lesser known side of the famous Tudor king and asks us, “Is Henry truly the villain he is painted out to be?”

(Probably, yes, but at least we will have fun while we find it out!)

Written by Bristol based Drag King, Hannah Clift, EIGHT is a love letter to SIX The Musical, rock music of the 70s and 80s and to the queer art of Drag! Hannah can be found on Instagram and TikTok at @ _hannah_clift_

“Wow, Hannah brings a smart witty performance that will leave you smiling and looking forward to seeing more. Her take on Henry VIII story with a mix of fun and laughter is not to be missed.”Oxford Pride

Hannah’s codpiece splittingly hilarious take on King Henry is full of wit, charm, and more historically accurate innuendo than you could shake a Year 8’s Tudor collage book at.”Brizzle Boyz

“Hannah Clift is an artist we book time and time again, because not only does she have the full suite of high level cabaret skills – writing, costume, choreo, voice and live charisma – but she’s always evolving and honing her act, bringing something fresh to the stage every time. She’s brilliant.” – The Shade Pullers and Lash Stackers Social Club
