Macbeth Cast Announcement

    Macbeth Cast Announcement

We are delighted to announce the full cast for our upcoming production of Macbeth, directed by our very own Heidi Vaughan, Artistic Director of Tobacco Factory Theatres.

A ruthless exploration of ambition, power, and the cost of forsaking the greater good, Macbeth is a play that confronts what happens when the pursuit of status overrides loyalty, love, and reason. In this bold new production, Heidi brings her signature ensemble-led approach to Shakespeare’s darkest tragedy – rooting the story in collaboration, emotional truth, and collective momentum.

Set against a backdrop of political turmoil and supernatural dread, this Macbeth is darkly pagan in tone, driven by ritual, rhythm, and prophecy. Violence breeds violence. Trust fractures. Guilt festers. And once the threshold of conscience is crossed, there is no way back.

    The Cast

This production brings together an exceptional ensemble of performers, many of whom are familiar faces at Tobacco Factory Theatres and across Bristol’s theatre community:

Together, the cast brings a wealth of experience spanning Shakespeare, devised theatre, music-led performance, and large-scale national and international productions – from the RSC and National Theatre to Kneehigh, Wise Children, Bristol Old Vic and beyond. What unites them is a shared commitment to ensemble storytelling that is felt as much as it is heard.

    Shakespeare at TFT

Tobacco Factory Theatres has a longstanding reputation for Shakespeare that is bold, visceral, and made for the here and now. This Macbeth continues that legacy — stripping the play back to its essential questions of power, complicity, and moral collapse.

When individual ambition triumphs over community, the consequences are irreversible.
