Young Theatre Makers is our weekly youth theatre for 4-18 year olds.
Led by a team of theatre professionals, our sessions cover a range of skills, forms and genres – including performing, writing, directing, devising, puppetry, sound design and more.
We experiment with new ideas and explore existing shows, inspired by the professional work on our stages. We work from a place of connection, curiosity, and creative expression to empower the next generation of bold and brilliant storytellers.
Whether you’re a young theatre fanatic, have enjoyed watching a show, or are still discovering what makes you tick, we’d love to welcome you to become a Young Theater Maker.

About Spring Term 2026
This term, we will be working towards an exciting curtain-raiser performance for TFT’s production of Macbeth.
This short, original piece of theatre will be created by the group over the course of the 10-week term and performed in the Factory Theatre. There will be a showcase for friends and family on Sunday 22nd March, followed by the curtain-raiser before the matinee performance of Macbeth on Saturday 28th March.
To make sure we have plenty of time to rehearse, there will be a full day rehearsal during half-term on Wednesday 18th February.
To help cover the costs of the production – including materials and the additional rehearsal day – there is an optional £50 contribution towards the curtain-raiser for everyone taking part.
Meet your facilitators
Year 7-9 Young Theatre Makers is directed by Imogen Downes.

Imogen is a Bristol-based director, writer, and facilitator, and the Young People’s Programme Coordinator at TFT. She has worked extensively in creating theatre for and with young people, and started her own theatre-making journey as a teenager when she was a member of YTM.
Her workshops are all about getting creative through collaboration, curiosity, and experimentation. She aims to create a space where young people feel empowered to tell their own bold, epic, imaginative stories – with a heap of joyful silliness along the way.
