At TFT, we love seeing our staff step out from behind the scenes and onto the stage, and Izzy, our Operations Admin Assistant, is no exception. By day, Izzy helps keep TFT running smoothly—handling hires, supporting the day-to-day operations, and keeping everything ticking along. By night, she’s co-director of Owl on the Roof, a Bristol-based theatre company she runs with Fifi (TFT Duty Manager) and their friend Jack.
Owl on the Roof formed as part of Made in Bristol in 2020 and officially became a Community Interest Company in 2022. They create and produce original theatre work and run free community events from an old greengrocer in Knowle. Over the years, they’ve toured original shows across the South West, bringing their unique, community-driven storytelling to new audiences.
Izzy shares her excitement about bringing their latest production, Apples and Pears, to TFT:
“We are so incredibly excited to bring Apples and Pears to TFT and continue to platform the lovely creatives who take part in the night. It is extra special to work with a South Bristol venue and be nearer to the community where we are based. It feels very surreal to think this night started in 2022 in an abandoned greengrocers—hence the name!”
The TFT connection runs deeper than just Izzy and Fifi. Owl on the Roof’s very first Apples and Pears show featured Gurt Haunted, who have since been programmed as TFT’s adult Christmas show this year.
Izzy also highlights why TFT audiences are the perfect fit for this production:
“Something really special about TFT is the unique community around it. From the Christmas show regulars, the opera enthusiasts, the Young Theatre Maker goers, and so many more, we are all united by a love of theatre. I would encourage TFT’s audience to take a risk and invest in new Bristol talent. This is a chance to see the creative process up close and to spur on theatre as an art form. We’ve also selected a range of acts that reflects the diversity of TFT’s programming—from stand-up comedy to physical theatre, there’s something for everyone.”
We can’t wait to welcome Izzy, Fifi, and Owl on the Roof to TFT and see this new chapter of Apples and Pears come to life on our stage.
