About the Show
Our Christmas show this year is Oliver Twist.
We are looking for a local (within 25 miles of Bristol) Assistant Stage Manager to join the stage management team, alongside the Stage Manager.

Fee:
£545 per week plus holiday pay and overtime as applicable (ITC contract)
Dates:
This will be a full-time engagement between 30 October – 22 January.
Rehearsals: Monday 30 October – Friday 24 November, 10am – 6pm
Technical Rehearsals: Monday 27 November – Friday 1 December
Preview Performances: Friday 1 December – Tuesday 5 December (5 total performances)
Press Performances: Wednesday 6 December
Performances: Thursday 7 December – Sunday 21 January
Assistant Stage Manager Duties
- To work closely with the Stage Manager, Director, Assistant Director, creative team and performing company to assist in the delivery of the stage management operation during rehearsals and performance for Oliver Twist.
- Maintaining the production as instructed and dictated by the artistic requirements and direction of the production
- Assisting with the smooth running of the rehearsal room, technical rehearsals, ensuring that everything is prepared on a daily basis for these and for performances
- Have an awareness of the access performances and the additional set-up or support that is required
- Working with your team, technical department, the acting company creative team members and theatre staff to ensure the efficient flow of information as necessary for the smooth running of the show
- Keep props, settings and ASM cue lists up to date.
- Assisting with the maintenance of all props, costumes (including laundry) and set, in conjunction with the relevant creative team members and in-house staff, including checks prior to each performance as requested by the Stage Manager.
- Undertake any cues required during performances such as scene changes and quick costume changes.
- Assisting the Stage Manager in compiling and distributing show paperwork including but not limited to rehearsal calls, rehearsal reports, show reports, up to date stage management cue sheets and all other show paperwork relevant to the show bible
- Assisting with managing stage management petty cash, including the timely placing of any orders for goods or equipment required by stage management and approved by the Producer
- Carry out other related duties as may be required by the Stage Manager and Production Manager.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience in relevant professional roles, such as previous stage management, event management, or backstage roles
- Knowledge and experience of contemporary theatre practices and of working creatively within the theatre-making process.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills with proven ability to work flexibly under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Proven excellent communication skills, written and verbal including simple report writing.
- Experience in sourcing props
- Experience liaising across multiple departments with competing priorities.
- Awareness of Health & Safety issues relevant to the role
- A problem-solver with a positive attitude with the ability to communicate in a professional and friendly manner.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Desirable:
- An interest in Tobacco Factory Theatres
- Experience at costume maintenance and quick changes
- Prop-making and maintenance skills
- A current First Aid qualification
