    REGULAR ACTING CLASSES FOR OUR COMMUNITY

    We are very proud to have re-launched weekly acting classes for adults.

    This is your opportunity to develop performance skills, explore scripts by celebrated playwrights and discover the approaches of renowned theatre practitioners.

    • Aged 19 or older
    • Passionate about acting and theatre
    • Keen to explore the process of acting and performing
    • Not a professional performer or currently in training

    Acting Lab will take place weekly throughout the year during term time on Wednesday evenings at the theatre and sign up is on a termly basis.

    Acting Lab will be led by local theatre director, John Ward.

    John is a highly experienced theatre director and acting teacher. His professional work and community theatre productions have been staged across the country in venues such as, Liverpool Everyman, The Lowry, Wiltons Music Hall, Derby Theatre, and York Theatre Royal.  John directs productions and teaches regularly at leading UK drama schools such as Mountview Academy of The Arts, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Rose Bruford College and Leeds Conservatoire.

    The spring term of Acting Lab will run from Wed 12 January – Wed 06 April.

    Classes take place at Tobacco Factory Theatres every Wednesday from 6pm – 7.30pm.

    IMPORTANT – due to popularity, we have two Acting Lab groups (one starting at 6pm and the other at 8pm). Please ensure you book for the group that matches your time preference.

    Pay What You Choose (PWYC)

    By joining, you sign up for the whole term and can choose to pay £3, £8 or £12 per session, which works out as £36, £96 or £144 for the full term.

    The true cost of running a session is £12 per person, we have two subsidized options one at £8 and a third at £3, this lowest £3 price is intended for people from low income households and / or in receipt of benefits. So if you are able to spend a little more, your contribution will help support our theatre and the incredible artists we work with to bring you this programme. Regardless of what you choose to pay, session leaders will be paid in full for their time and expertise.

    PLEASE NOTE, when booking you will only see the first date of the sessions. By booking you are committing to all sessions as per the dates above. We are unable to offer refunds for places unless we have a waiting list for that particular class and are able to resell the place.
