The 2017 Shakespeare & Classic Drama Season

THE 2017 SHAKESPEARE & Classic Drama SEASON

In 2017 Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory and Tobacco Factory Theatres present a season of plays that resonate powerfully with the modern world.

The season begins with Othello (Thu 16 February – Sat 01 April) and we welcome Richard Twyman, Artistic Director of English Touring Theatre, to direct one of Shakespeare’s most startlingly contemporary plays about a life torn apart by racism and the destructive nature of prejudice.

This is followed by Tartuffe (Thu 06 April ? Sat 06 May) in a new adaptation by Dominic Power and Andrew Hilton, after Molière. Directed by Andrew Hilton, this version of the most performed play in the history of French classical theatre sees Tartuffe alive and on the make in present day London.

You can find out about both shows below, plus our annual lunchtime talks for audience members who enjoy discussing the production with the director and members of the cast after they have seen it.
